| In Waldorf schools, children
are exposed to two foreign languages, begining in first grade. In the original
school in Germany, they were English and French. Many Waldorf schools continue
this tradition and teach German and French. Other schools vary this, based
on the demographics of their area and teacher availability. In our school,
the languages are German and Spanish. Schools in California may teach Spanish
and one of the Asianlanguages. Whichever languages are selected, one is
usually a romance language or other cognate of the native language. The
other is generally chosen from another language family. |
